Looking for some advice.
I am currently using Family Tree Maker 2005 to store my tree. Since I have moved to Windows 8 I can no longer export a PDF, the program keeps shutting down.
I have been planning to upgrade anyway and was wondering if I should upgrade to FTM 2014 or try another program assuming I can export without problems given the old version of my program.
I also have a question about the security of data on websites. I would like to share my tree with some family members and many genealogy sites and software offer the ability to create a website.
Can anybody tell me if this can be done where the only access to the site will be family members I choose. I do not want this information to go to a wider audience.
Any help will be much appreciated.

The simplest method of providing a secure (mainly) web site is to use something like Tribal Pages where you can password protect the file and give out the password to friends and family.
It is also possible to set up a similar system on your own website although how easily this can be done could depend on what facilities your web space provider supplies.
