Title: Shaw family- 1851 Census
Post by: Warkz on Saturday 04 January 14 21:07 GMT (UK)
Is anyone able to find the following family on the 1851 census please?

John Shaw, born c1820 in Stafford
Hannah Shaw, born 1826 in Tunstall or Wolstanton
Jane Elizabeth Shaw, born 1844 in Tunstall
John Shaw, born 1846 in Tunstall
William Shaw, born 1850 in Tunstall

John and Hannah (Booth) married in Wolstanton in 1842 and the family were living in Pitts Hill and Chell in 1861 and 1871, John was a coal miner. I have been unable to spot them in 1851 but think they should be in the same area.

Thanks for any help!

It looks like if you use An**** that it has either been omitted or not yet transcribed,  so,

John Shaw 30 occ Coal Miner b Stafford
Hannah 25
Jane 7
John 5
William 10 months
All others b Tunstall
Plus a boarder William Stanyard 23 occ Puddler in Iron b Brierley Hill

That's great, thank you so much! Yes that's the site I use, was just about to post that it isn't on there, which is a little annoying but explains why I hadn't seen the family.

Thanks very much for your help, glad to know they weren't missed off.
