Hi everyone :)
I got a bit of help from you all on his Wife, now its his turn!
Im unsure of birth. He married Florrie Jukes in 1914 and is the father of Elizabeth Caswell born in 1920.
Im wondering if anyone can shed any light on his birth, death and parents... He is way before my time!
Im trying to do this with buying as little as possible. Proving very difficult!

He joined the military? Didn't know that! That side of the family was very hush hush for some reason, my nana or her mother never spoke of them. Any idea what infantry he was in?

died Royal Hospital,Wolverhampton 5 Aug 1955

Theres a tree on Ancestry that gives his parents as Richard Cornelius Caswell and Margaret Davies married 5 Jan 1885 St Marks,Pensnett.
He doesnt give a PoB on service records just a present address.
-
You'd be best buying his marriage cert, which will give his age and occupation and his father's name and occupation. You could easily chase the wrong family , esp if you rely on trees on Ancestry!
-
The marriage information came from his service records not a tree on Ancestry.

On the page headed Medical History of... it states place of birth Tipton, Staffs ;)

I will do when i can. Im young, on a lowish income and a student at the minute so its hard to do! Ive just ordered one for another part of the family and I'm making lists of what i need to get. Trying to keep the costs down by monopolising you fine people :) x

Not disputing the marriage at all, but wouldn't rely on an Ancestry tree myself for parents' names.
-
Sorry Jool it does say Tipton Staffs

Im not relying on it. Just getting as many facts as possible before making any essential purchases. As I've said, i don't all have a huge disposable income to fund this.

James, I believe you have access to Findmypast, have a look at Joseph Caswell (b. 1889 Sedgley on 1901 census) with parents Richard and Margaret in 1911 and 1901, they are a coal mining family - see what you think :)

Looks good! Then traced back to the 1871 census there is the Corneilius & Elizabeth Caswell that were mentioned above.

Don't rush back too fast, let's try and find some evidence that Richard and Margaret are the right parents of Joseph first :)
By the way, if it is the right Caswell family living in Regent Street, Coseley - it's about 2 minutes drive from my house ;D

Hi
That's correct (I had Elizabeth as Lizzie but with few details)
His parents were Richard Caswell (c1854-c1921)) and Margaret Davis(c1864-1932)
Joseph was my Great-Uncle. I was born in Bloomfield Rd, Tipton which my grandmother (his sister)rented from him.
Joseph Jr (1922) married Dorothy Rea (c1915)
I don't know much about Lizzie except my mother used to take me to visit when I was a kid and she lived down near Owen St.
Are we related ?

We are related.. Joseph was my 2nd great grandfather. His daughter Elizabeth was my great grandmother. She died back in 2007 and was an amazing woman. I did not know her parents. I think my mother did. We all live in Tipton, at the moment were the other side of owen street by Locarno primary school.
