Could someone please look up the death/burial record so I have the actual date for:
Eliza Matilda KING d.1884 Q4 BIC age 75
Thanks in advance.

To get the actual date of death, you will need to purchase the death cert.
To find a burial, you will need to know where and when she died - so will need a copy of the death cert!
The Registration District from the indexes will cover many many parishes, and the Qtr from the indexes covers 3 months, so would be very difficult for anyone to look for a burial without more detailed info, even if anyone did have access to the Parish Registers for Oxfordshire. Where was she last living - in 1881 - for example?
-
Members of the public do not have access to death cert info - you would have to buy a copy
BIC
= Bicester
Whereabouts in Bicester did she die as that will determine her burial place
Here are all the areas covered by the Bicester RD
http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/districts/bicester.html

Also - if she died late December - any burial may be in January 1885

Thanks all for your replies with advice.
On the 1871 census she is living in Kirtlington. I can't find her on the 1881 census. But there's only the one possible death in the Bicester area that's the 1884 one.

I can't find her on the 1881 census.
There is an Eliza on the 1881 census living in Thame. Not sure why she would be there, if that is her. But I didn't think that was covered by the Bicester registration area so would've had to move back.
-
I think I'll just have to order the death certificate. It will be useful to confirm birth info etc anyways.
-
1871 shows b 1811 Tackley
In 1881 she is shown as Elizabeth aged 70 and still in Kirtlington mother in law to Thomas Edgington (wife Priscilla) RD still Bicester
-
Ah great. Where I expected her to be. Not sure why I couldn't find the record just now when I searched.
So I expect she'll have died in Kirtlington. I'll see if I can order her death certificate, and in the meantime if anyone can look her up in the Kirtlington parish burials book, that would be appreciated.

The OFHS CD OXF-BIC01 shows a burial for Emily Matilda KING on 5 Nov 1884 aged 75 of Kirtlington at St Marys Church in Kirtlington.
Hope this helps?

Yes that sounds like her... but, "Emily"? ???
Baptism, marriage, and census records all say Eliza.
-
Yes I know but I checked it before I typed and I re checked it just now.
To be sure you need to visit Oxford and read the original or ask on here for someone to do that.
It may have been an error during transcription or typing?
-
OK thanks for confirming you did triple-check it before posting; I didn't doubt you did.
I'm sure that's her so I agree the different name does seem to be due to a transcription error, whether from original to typed records, or from typed records to computer/CD.
So... if someone is visiting the OHC perhaps they could kindly look in the book to see what it says there, and then depending on what it says there try to view the original if needbe.
-
I've just received the death certificate.
"Eliza Matilda King"
So as expected that is her, and the confusion has been due to a transcription error in the typed parish record book which then transferred also on to the OFHC records CD. I haven't had chance to look at the original record at the OHC but I'd expect it says Eliza and whoever transcribed it just read it wrong.
-
Ah ha
Well done Sherlock a good result buttttt can I implore you to let the Oxfordshire Family History Society know what you have discovered so they can annotate their records for any future editing or queries please?
