Looking for WW1 records for Luke Morrison born preston 1892 died 1965, not sure which force he was in but know he fought in the war, if someone could give me a Linc as to where you can buy the info on line (if there is such like) I would be very grateful.

His birth and death show only Luke as a christian name but there is no Medal Roll Index card for a Luke Morrison - only a George Luke Morrison who was a Lieutenant in the 4th Seaforth Att MGC (machine gun corp I think)
Over 60% of WW1 service records were burnt in the WW2 blitz

Thanks very much Carole, he was definitely Luke not George will keep digging :-\

Many soldiers in the WWI medal rolls are recorded only with surname and instals. So there are several L. Morrison entries but it is not possible to relate those to a Luke from Preston.

Thank you Hackstaple, have got a photo of Luke in uniform not sure what uniform it is but do you think it would help if I attached the photo?
-
it will help if there are identifying items,,,such as cap badge,,shoulder titles etc ?
-
It has been on the photo forum ages ago.
-
Not certain but isn't the jacket for the Flying Corps?

Thanks Jean, hopefully it might help.

I suspect that the photo is of a dispatch rider in a fusilier regiment.

Thank you Hackstaple,
I am waiting to find out how much a search from the Record Copying (national archives) is going to cost me for a Luke Morrison in the air corps, if this is not him I will try looking at the fusilier regiment.
