Seems almost like yesterday that we launched RootsChat but Birthdays soon creep up.

This week we celebrate 10 years online! Just wanted to say a Huge Thank you to so many of you that make RootsChat a special place to be, including our wonderful moderators who do a lot of work (that is often unseen)

Thinking about some great friends that we met over the last few years and looking forward to making some new friends in 2014.

Anyone for a slice of Cake?

Congratulations Sarah and Trystan and Happy Birthday Rootschat.

Since I've been using this site, not only have I learnt so much about my own family history, but I have also learnt new skills and been able to help others. However, I think one of the best things has been the huge number of new friends I have found. Some have become very good friends indeed and without Rootschat we would never have met.

So thank you for all you do to keep this site running and a big thank you to all the Mods.

Pass a slice of cake this way please.

Hi,

A very Happy 10th Birthday to Rootschat indeed! What a fantastic site!

Trystan & Sarah have done & continue to do a fantastic job & family history research wouldn't be the same without it. I have made many discoveries in my family history lately & without Rootschat & the wonderful chatters' themselves I would never have found a lot of what has been found.

Have also made a few friends on here, hope to make some more this year!

Mustn't forget the Mods who also do a great job as well. To one & all, Thank you for a wonderful site!

I registered on RootsChat in October, 04 but only wrote my first post in November, 12. Now I'm going to spend the rest of the day wondering where I was for 8 years  ::)

A very happy birthday Rootschat.

Without this forum, I would never have found out about my elusive German ancestors on my mother's paternal side. The help I had could never have been established without the extensive work of Sarah and Trystan. Thank you.

I've had laughs on the TOT forums (does good to leave the "dry" matter for a while) - I've made friends and learned a great deal.

I've endangered my marriage with my addiction  ;) - I am a hopeless case - I'm not only interested in my own family, but others too. Sorry Toni!!

I have to agree - happy birthday!!!  I've gained a lot of information from fellow Rootschatters, and in return I've done the odd favour for other members who have connections with Staffordshire (where I just happen to live at the moment - but love visiting Lichfield Archives  ;))- give and take!!!

I've had so much help from others on here; have been able to offer some help too, but the best thing is the friends I have made, met and visited .... Rootschatters are wonderful !

I didn't join until Aug 2004 so my 10th birthday is a wee bit behind yours  - still going strong though  :)

Was lucky enough to see Sarah and Tristrum at Who Do You Think You Are Live last year, such lovely people, so greatful for all rootschat has done for me, Happy Birthday and thank you Rootschat :)

About the same time I started taking my FH seriously having only 'dabbled'. Many links and contacts later, I am still here and still linking and never give up searching for that 'elusive' one.

So many people have so many reasons to thank you for all your hard work in establishing such a wonderful forum.

I've learnt so much from the threads on a great range of topics ........and hopefully contributed a little myself.

One great result for me was someone in Australia googling for an ancestor and then joining RC to post on my thread. We have both learnt so much and established a friendship in the process.

Well done to you both for the valuable contribution to so many lives  :)

Happy Birthday Rootschat!  I am quite a newbie to this site although I have been researching my own family history for quite a while. I can't believe I haven't discovered it years ago! I am totally hooked and love reading the threads of other people's stories

Congratulations, Sarah and Trystan!

RootsChat really is the best ancestor hunting site, probably because you two are personally involved and post lots of messages on all kinds of topics.  It's this kind of involvement that makes RootsChat different from other sites and encourages so many other RootsChatters to go out of their way to help others.

I have had so much help from members over the years and discovered information that I probably would never have found without it.  In return I have looked up information at Gloucester Record Office for others even though I have no Gloucester ancestors myself.  It's this kind of willingness to help and share that Trystan and Sarah have managed to engender, so very well done to them.

Any cake left? ;D

I got so much help from RootsChatters when I started on my family almost two years ago, what a lovely bunch of people! Now I check in just about every evening, there's always something of interest.

Thanks for all the help and good advice I've had on here, for the time others have put in sorting out my ( half-baked) problems, and pointing me gently in the correct direction.... oh, you all know what I mean.
 I've become so pathetically grateful when I can actually help to sort out something for anyone else on here. I think it's because it's all individuals doing it for shared interest not profit, that it works so well. It's so good to feel you're helping someone else. Too late for the cake, I'm sure, but thanks again for all the organisation and effort that makes it all work.

I agree with all Threlfall Yorky said. Belated congratulations. Finding rootschat was one of the happiest things I ever did & one of the best communities I have ever belonged to; the opportunity to obtain help & sometimes use a particular skill to help others. Some peoples skills &lateral thinking is amazing.

Wouldn't have wanted the cake [post Christmas calorie counting] but I feel 'you're never alone with rootschat'!
