Hello! I've attached an old photo which I think was taken in the 1890's possibly at Cardross School, Dunbartonshire, Scotland. I believe my Grandfather Robert Colquhoun is in the photo. Any information about the photo would be appreciated. Thank you.

This picture is actually in the Helensburgh Advertiser this week so maybe there might be some response ....I presume you posted it

Helensburgh Heritage group kindly posted the photo in the local paper. I no longer live in Helensburgh and I haven't seen the article in the paper. I hope someone can shed some light on the photo.

I am sure some one will find out for you :)

Hi House2000 I would be interested in any news of identities of pupils. I have ancestors who lived and owned Kipperoch and Old Kipperoch which lay on Kipperoch Road which ran down into Cardross joining Cardross to the Vale of Leven.
I hope you get help and have a successful search
Regards and best wishes

Hello Are Searcher. Sorry I don't have much information about the photo yet but someone is trying to help identify it after it was posted in the local paper. I think it was taken in the late 1890's and it's possible that my Grandfather, Robert Colquhoun who was born in 1884 at Auchesail Farm, Cardross is the pupil in the back row 2nd from the left. Was it Kipperoch farm where your ancestors lived? I'll let you know if I find out any more about the mystery photo.
Best wishes

Is that your tree on Ancestry ? There are some Colquhoun families still living in Cardross :)
-
Hello yes I have a tree on Ancestry. I don't live in the Cardross area now but I do have some relatives (second cousins I think) who live there. I wish I could remember what my mum told me about the photo I posted or that someone could help solve it's mysteries. Thank you.

Still hoping someone can shed some light on my photo. Thank you.

Thank you for the replies to my post. I've already sent the photo to Helensburgh Heritage, Helensburgh Memories, local newspapers and libraries and also to Cardross School but unfortunately no luck so far. Still hopeful that maybe someone can help. Thank you.

That's a pity don't think there is much more you can do then.. you should maybe comment again on Helensburgh Memories

It is a great photo and it could possibly have my some of my grandmother's siblings in it! She was born 1894 so she is probably not in it as the children look older than that but her older brothers and sisters could be as there were a number born in the late 1880s so would be around 10 when the picture was taken. I don't suppose you know any other names of children in the photo (a really long shot I know). I hope you find more info about the pic. Good luck!

My Grandfather Robert Colquhoun who I think is in the photo back row 2nd from the left was born in 1884. I would guess the photo was taken in the late 1890's. Sorry I don't know any of the names of anyone else in the photo but I'm still hoping to find out some more information about it.
