Hello everyone ( and Merry Christmas ! )
I am quite new to UK research and I am having a bit of a hard time.
I am looking for my great great grandparents, an Aldridge-Lavis couple.
Mabel Lavis was born in Bristol but she married John Aldridge who should be born around 1890 in ( Islington maybe ? ) the London area. With the information I have, I understand that they married in April 1912, Bethnal Green.
Mabel is the daughter of James Lavis and Louisa ( born James ). But if Louisa is still alive in 1912, she lives with a second husband named Vines. I don't have any information about John, except that he and Mabel were still alive in the 1970s ( they celebrated their diamond anniversary ) and that John was known as Jack.
The trick ( or help ) is that in the same dates than John and Mabel, a Beatrice Lavis ( Mabel's sister ) also married an Aldridge ( Edward apparently ). So it could be that the two brothers married the two sisters.
I'd like to know if anyone have any information about John ? I know I am vague in the information I have and told you, but it is all I have and I can't afford to travel to the UK to directly search the archives. Maybe some among you have free resources I could use ( I already use family search and free bmd ).
Thank you for reading me and Merry Christmas ! :)

Hello and thank you all for your answers.
MargP --> Like CaroleW mentioned, the marriage I have for John and Mabel is the :
7.4.1912, Bethnal Green.
Name: John Aldridge
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1886
Age: 26
Spouse Name: Mabel Lavis
Spouse Age: 25
In the London, England, Marriages and Banns, 1754-1921
James Aldridge was also named as John's father. Same for Edward but in married in Bristol.
Thank you KGarrad, the 1891 census here was taken not a long time before James Lavis' death. Mabel's mother, Louisa, was soon to remarry with Fred Vines like shown in the 1901, even though in this census all Louisa's children are written with the name of Vines, only Dolly and Fred are his, the other are his step-children.
MargP --> Thank you, this is what I wanted to find one day, John's mother's maiden name. With this information, it should be easier to find more information now.
I thank you all. You have been very helpful. I think we can close this topic now. I wish you all happy end of year celebrations :)
