Title: Mary Williams in 1841 Merthyr Tydfil census
Post by: Neil Harvie on Wednesday 25 December 13 10:08 GMT (UK)
My great-great-grandmother Mary Williams was born in Wales 2 January 1840. Until recently I had no idea where. I've just found out that her family home in South Australia was known as "Merthyr Tydfil" suggesting this may have been her place of origin. Her father's name was Henry Williams; her mother's name I have no idea! Would someone be able to look up the Merthyr Tydfil Glamorgan 1841 census for the possibility that a Mary Williams aged 1 year+ with a father Henry was recorded. Much Obliged. Thanks for this possibility, but I think Mary's age should be at least one year or 18 months at Census time, I don't know the date of the 1841 census, but it would have been well into the year 1841. I appreciate your very quick response! Neil

If it helps . . . . .

The 1841 census was taken on June 6.

Thanks Ray. I have a possible birth registration for the first quarter of 1840 in the Merthyr Tydfil district which I will test by ordering the birth certificate. and see what it brings. Williams and Mary and Henry are such common names in Wales that it's a bit of a needle in a haystack trying to find my Mary's birth.
