Title: Joseph Robinson b 1822 Who is his wife?
Post by: James Corps on Sunday 22 December 13 22:27 GMT (UK)
:(One of my ancestors is Joseph Robinson born Summerhouse Co Durham 1822  His wife was Ann who was born in Nuntrip? Nunthorpe   There are two Nunthorpes in Yorkshire One near Middlesbrough and one near York  His work took him from County Durham into North Yorkshire He ended up as Bailiff at Eldon Co Durham  His son (Christopher m Charlotte Dennis) later took over the same farm Red House I had thought his wife to be Ann Clayton but now I doubt this  Joseph died in 1888 His wife died in 1903   Has anybody come across a marriage for Joseph and Ann?  It would probably be about 1843/4/5  Stockton and Auckland would be the favoured areas but it could be anywhere from Shildon to brotton or Barmton  maybe even Burdon or Bradbury  Hope someone recognises these names   Jim Corps :-*

In all honesty because Joseph Robinson is a common name I think you are going to have to get the birth certificate of one of the children to find the mother's maiden name.

I have seen the reference to the 1845 marriage but there are several others that are equally as good including the 1844 one in Auckland registration district that covers Summerhouse

:D Many thanks to claire.t, heywood, and davidft for their thoughts, they are very helpful  Haven't completely ruled out Auckland marriage as there is an Ann Hanson mentioned  there is a Hanson (nephew) staying in Hurworth with a Corps relative  Will have to check this link Had veered away from Haughton marriage because there is another family of Robinsons well established there, will have to recheck Mary's details  I had originally thought that first child was born in St Andrews Bishop Auckland but there is St Andrew's Haughton to consider.  Ann Christopher seems a likely contender   .
davidft makes a good point about birth certificate  There appears to be more online about Christopher, the son  So his birth certificate might be a good source (I should have considered this as birth certificates have helped me in the past in the process of elimination)    It never ceases to amaze me how quickly researchers come up with the goods on this site....well done  Jim Corps

My apologies to claire.t   You have already ruled out Ann Hanson in convincing style   I had not noticed this at first reading  will have to be more careful    Jim Corps :-[
