Hi all, in need of some help if you can. I have been researching my family history for the past year and it has been going fantastic until i came across my Great, Great, Great, Great Grandad and Nan were the information seems to end.
Grandad: Thomas Powell - Born Abt 1825 (Unknown birthplace)
- Lived in Liverpool Toxteth from 1851 - 1871
- Boilermaker and first child was born in Ireland (William Powell 1849)
Nan: Ann Wright - Born Abt 1826 (Hawarden, Flintshire)
- Mother & Father: Anne Huntington & John Wright (Hawarden, Flintshire)
- Lived in Liverpool Toxteth 1861
- No record of her in the 1871 census Powell household, so i think she may of died.
- First child was born in Ireland (William Powell 1849)
I cannot find any marriage or even birth cert for Thomas. I understand that boilermakers tended to travel depending on where the work was. I think that is why their first child was born in Ireland. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Ryan. :)

Thanks keyboard that is correct, I have this in my records. Radcliff that is brilliant and very interesting. So that explains why she isn't in the 1871 family census. Anything else regarding Thomas Powell? :o

Thomas Powell 1824 to 1826 - only one baptism shows
baptism 22nd March 1825 at St Peter ,Liverpool
Thomas Reeves Powell
son of Richard Powell and Hannah
abode Everton
occupation Cork Cutter
Baptised by W Horner ....
could this be your Thomas Powell ??
ADDED....if it is your Thomas ...Hannahs maiden name was Reeves ...married in Everton ,Liverpool
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NNB3-XBZ
Richard Powell was born 1794...looks like Hannah Reeves was also b 1794 - both 21 at their marriage

That is fantastic garstonite, thank you so much. How can I make sure that is it his father?
Many thanks,
Ryan. ;D

Ryan - I am only going by the 1851 census return - stating he is 26 ..so he would be born 1824 or 1825 ...I think the 1851 census was 31st March 1851 ...and Thomas Reeves Powell was baptised 22nd march 1825- so would be t least 26 on census date - but - and this is the catch - we presume Thomas Reeves Powell was born abt a week before his baptism ....he could have been older , even 3 years of age ....so I don`t think you can be 100% sure , but he is a very good possibility ...if the census details are correct..
maybe some other member could add their advice

That is very interesting, with his occupation and age being correct and with ann dying fairly young it is quite possible that he marries again. Once again thank you for your help and time. :D
