Can someone please tell me if I am able to separate a complete family line from my Ancestry tree without restarting? I have found an historically exciting line which is 'running out of control' and it would be much easier to view if segregated from the rest. :-\

Hi Sandra,
There is probably an easier way - but this is what I would do ...
- Export your tree as a Gedcom (you can do this in tree pages > tree settings)
- Rename the new Gedcom as something else
- Under the Family Trees tab go to Upload a Gedcom and upload your newly named tree
- Chop off the branches you don't want in your new tree
Hopefully this works - it does in my head!

Thank you so much Liz. I began to think there wouldn't be a way round my problem. I tried to find an answer on Ancestry itself but I don't find their Help pages very helpful!! I'll try your way as soon as I get back to research - things are a bit hectic at the moment.
Happy Christmas and thanks again - Sandra

8) you're welcome - it should be fine. The best bit is that it doesn't involve deleting people until you are sure you have them where you want them! Agreed about Ancestry help... Roots chat is much much more reliable!
Happy Christmas!
