Title: Old post revisited - Galway townland.
Post by: Jane Masri on Saturday 07 December 13 09:35 GMT (UK)
Some three years ago I asked for help in deciphering an entry that gives the place of birth of my 2 x great grandfather.   http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=489939.0
Not being able to come to any conclusion I put it on the back burner but now I'm going to have a serious go at finding the town/village & look for his baptism.  I've been using
http://www.thecore.com/seanruad/ to help but I still can't narrow it down to two or three possibilities (my eyes are turning in my head like a one-armed bandit machine  :-\)  Perhaps some fresh eyes might help,

Jane

My guess is Kilkerrin parish. If you pronounce it out, that seems to be the closest. The townland Coolarne, famously home to the Meldon cricketers, is my next best guess...

Sorry for my long delay in answering this sakdolan but I was without internet connection  :(
Kilkerrin has gone to the top of my list as a possibility so nice to have another confirmation on this!  Coolarne has also gone on the list so thank you for your input!
