Title: New Ross Workhouse inmates
Post by: Heppy on Wednesday 04 December 13 20:14 GMT (UK)
I am trying to trace my Great Great Grandmother who I believe died in New Ross workhuse, somewhere about 1880 I think her name was spelt Margaret Corcoran, but infact her name was Margaret Cochran she had been married to Hugh Hall Cochran (watchmaker) he died 1879, and I think Margaret went to live with her son and daughter-in-law Hannah &  Hugh Cochran in New Ross.

Wher could I find when and where she died. and was it in New Ross Workhouse?

Please help.

Heppy.

Hi. Have you tried the LDS familysearch website:
https://familysearch.org/search/collection/1408347

They have civil registration online indexes for the period you seek. From there you can use the reference numbers to order the death certificates via the GRO in Ireland.

Any idea of when Margaret was born?
Where did Hugh die, I couldn't see his death registered in Wexford - was it in a different place perhaps?

Katharine.

The death of a Hugh Hall Cochran was registered in the 2nd quarter of 1879 in Dublin North. His date of birth was approximately 1805.
