Title: SHIELDS family of Snake Valley/Linton/Ballarat
Post by: Wab on Wednesday 04 December 13 10:14 GMT (UK)
Hello

I'm looking for anyone else who is researching the Shields family. My 3x great-grandfather John Thomas Shields emigrated to Australia in 1854 with his wife Elizabeth (nee Hyatt) and baby son William. They settled in Ballarat/Linton/Carngham and had six more children: Alfred, Sarah, Mary, Ann, John (my 2x great-grandfather), George and Lillian.

John married Catherine Ann Scarf, they had nine children: Louisa, Harriet, Tom, Sarah (my great-grandmother), Albert, Catherine, Will, Ruby and Harold.

Would appreciate if any descendants would be able to provide me with any photos or info on the family.

William

Hi
In the event that a descendant does not contact you, is there anything in particular we, as non-related researchers, can help you with regarding your Victorian branch?

Do you have access to ancestry.com.au ? there are at least a dozen public trees that stem from John Thomas Shields and wife Elizabeth Hyatt  ... if not, I could possibly direct them to you here ?

Rootschat has members who have access to resources that are not on ancestry.

I would suggest that online trees are treated with caution as many compilers simply copy and paste information without bothering to validate the information with certificates etc....or simply follow the 'hints' ::) ::)

The OP hasn't bothered to respond to Sue's questions and has been logged in since his query.
