Hi everyone,
I am led to believe that my Grandfather, John Dean (1872 - unknown) was either the licencee or owner of a Pub/Hotel in Liverpool in the 1910's.
His middle name may have been Ewart, but not verified.
I have correspondence that indicates my uncles and aunts, Mary Dorothy Dean, Jack E Dean and possibly Charles A Dean were born on the premises.
His wife's name (my Grandmother) was Sarah Jane Dean (1875 - 1961)
Any information or suggested links would be most appreciated.
Sid

Do you have access to the 1911 Census? I cannot post details of the 1911 family (Rootschat rules) but the names in the 1911 family fit several of those you have mentioned - including the name "Ewart".
This is the family in 1901 (census ref RG13 3404 110 22)
John Dean, Head, Marr, 29, Secretary Political Club, b. Rockferry, Cheshire
Sara J Dean, Wife, Marr, 25, b. Liverpool
Margaret A Dean, Dau, 1, b. Seacombe
Florence Dean, Dau, 1mth, b. Seacombe
Address 102 Bell Road, Poulton cum Seacomb

To Hanes teulu,
Thank you for that information. I will follow that up on the 1911 Census.
That certainly is the family.
And no, I don't have the respective birth certificates.
To Shaun J,
First, I thought I had an i.d. but had a major disk failure some time ago and lost all my details, so joined up again. Should I cancel "Sidney J Dean"?
I'll follow up on the 1911 Census.
Any ideas as to how to find if he was either the licencee or owner of a Pub/Hotel in Liverpool in the 1910's.
Your replies are appreciated.

Secretary Political Club,
Per 1900 Gore's a John Dean was secretary of the Junior Reform Club (3 and 5 Stanley Street, Liverpool)
-
It seems the Sarah J who married John Dean was a Sarah J Wells who John Dean married in what is given on Lancashire BMD as a Toxteth Civil Marriage in 1899.

I can't find this family in the 1911 census on Ancestry but they are there on both Find My Past and The Genealogist. Address 30 Church Road, Seacombe.
-
They are not showing on Ancestry.I've looked for the links to the children in 1901 but no show.

William Russell Jones.

FreeBMD has the birth registration of Mary Dorothy Dean, Mar 1910, Liverpool, 16 77 - the 1911 census has a "Dorothy born Liverpool".
The address on her birth cert might - no guarantee - be a pointer?

Oh "Deaw"!!! The 1911 Census!

1914 Gore's Directory lists John Dean as secretary of the Lyceum News Room in Bold Street. Still residing at 30 Church Road, Seacombe.
