Hello everyone
i am trying to find some information about my ancestors i have recently found out by sheer accident that my family hails from roscaberry in cork ireland.
i have found out that my great grandfather was maurice cussen born around 1874 and had 4 brothers he later married a maria bourke.
i found this out from an email from a distant relative that i had no idea about in america. my great grandfather was his great uncle.
as far as i know they were a farming family if any one can direct me in any way i should look or has possibly any info on the family please get in touch
regards dave

and other relevant entries on same site.
Spelling of parish name is Rosscarbery. It's spelled wrongly a lot including on the Irish Genealogy site.

This marriage would seem to fit as the following children were baptised to this couple:
Michael Cussen 13/9/1865
John Cussen 23/5/1867
James Cussen 12/6/1870
You have Maurices Baptism in 1873.
There is a Baptism of a John Cusson same parish as above 20May 1844 to
Parents Patrick Cussen & Julia Mahony Address CUILBARLEYE (think this might be gaelic for Barleyhill)
Marriage record for Patrick Cussen & Jillian(Julia , probably mistranscription)Mahony
13 February 1838
all these records in www.irishgenealogy.ie in Roscarbery & Lissevard Parish
regards :)

David have a look at www.nationalarchives.ie
In the 1901 Census John Cussen seems to be still living age 75 a widower living with his brother James Cussen House No 2 Benduff (Rosscarbery) Cork
Also in 1901 Census a Michael Cussen (could be Johns Son) Age 30 married with family House 3 Meenroe (Barleyhill) Cork
Also on the national archives site have a look at Griffith Valuation where some Cussens are listed :)

This address is a transcription error. The register says the address is Barleyhill. Looks like there was a mix-up with the preceding entry.
This is probably brother number four referred to in the opening post: http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/1f66300084748.
The townland on the record is Gurthroe (correctly Gortroe) which is very close to Barley Hill.
