Hi,
My great x 5 grandparents were Christopher Cole & Margaret (surname unknown). I know nothing about them, ie, when they were born, when they died or when they even married.
All I know is that they had a daughter, Elizabeth Cole my great x 4 grandmother, on the 8th July 1794 in Newcastle upon Tyne. She was baptised non-conformist the next day. Her baptism record states: Elizabeth, Daughter of Christopher & Margret Cole, Flax Dresser, of Silver Street in the Parish of All Saints, Newcastle upon Tyne.
There is a potential marriage of a Christopher Cole to a Margaret Thompson at All Saints, Newcastle on the 13th May 1787.
Elizabeth went on to marry at Gretna Green and 4 of her 6 children were also baptised non-conformist. On a couple of those baptisms it does state that the maternal grandparents were Christopher & Margaret Cole.
I would really appreciate any advice on where to start with these two.
Many thanks in advance.

It is the only marriage in Northumberland for Christopher and Margaret, so where do you want to go with them, have you checked to see if they were married by banns or licence,

Hi,
If this is indeed the right marriage, then I do need to see if I can find out anything at all more about the marriage such as banns/ licence and if they were of the parish.
Elizabeth was born ten years later so I am curious to know if there were any other children to Christopher and Margaret.
I would like to locate then they died and if Christopher left a will.

I have checked for a marriage allegation, sorry I didn't find one , also I checked for a will ,but again I didn't find one, some thing will turn up, I am sure,

Cole seems a bit thin on the ground , there is a marriage of Catherine Cole to to Anthony Wilson in 1786 , All Saints,
There are a few burials for Cole at St Andrews, one being John a master mariner, and later in 1783 his widow Elizabeth,

Some burials at Gateshead St.Mary :
10 Mar 1789, Jane, daughter of Christopher Cole
26 Mar 1790, William, son of Christopher Cole
15 Mar 1792, Margaret, daughter of Christopher Cole
16 Jul 1794, Margaret, wife of Christopher Cole, Flax Dresser
This is a week after Elizabeths baptism. I presume there were complications with the birth, hence being baptized one day later, possibly at the closest church that would perform the baptism at short notice.
13 Sep 1814, Christopher Cole, of Gateshead, aged 50

Alan,
I cannot thank you enough for finding those burials. So sad that Margaret died after giving birth to Elizabeth. It looks like my Elizabeth was the only surviving child. I really appreciate you finding these for me.
Radcliff, thank you too for taking a look for me.
