Hello - I am hoping to find out more about my paternal grandmother, Harriet LANE. I know she was born in 1866, had a son Henry in 1885 and married in 1891 Geo. Fdk HENOCQ.
I am seeking details of her parents, where she lived and did she have siblings.
Can any help me please.

Hi
Do you have the 1891 marriage cert? It shows that she was living at 6 Alpha Place and her father as being John Lane,a paper stainer.
In the 1891 census at 6 Alpha Place Chelsea, John Lane, aged 65 born London, a wall paper stainer, Ann Lane aged 61 also born London, and a wall paper stainer, and their son William aged 20 born Chelsea, a cab lamp cleaner.

Hi Nanny with Rosie,
With the two eldest children being born in Bethnal Green there is this marriage on Freebmd:
Lane, John to Barker, Ann; June Qtr 1853; Bethnal Green; Volume 1C Page 645
This might be their marriage.
Hope this helps
Kind regards

Thank you all for responding so quickly, it has moved my research forward (or should I say backwards) after spending a long time puzzling how to proceed. I would guess there were more children to the marriage as John at 15 means Ann would have been 30.
You pre-empted my next question about their marriage. Thank you for correcting the birth details for Harriet, that does look the more likely.
Interesting fact that they lived in Manor Street in 1871 - that is where George Henocq was living when he married Harriet so maybe he was the father after all!!

Thank you once again.
Suddenly you realise how quickly the children were born and probably died, especially when a name gets recycled so soon after the first.
I have managed to trace the Henocq tree back to France, but there are missing details, e.g. baptisms/birthdays of George and Harriet's children. George also served in the army which is another avenue for me to go down sometime.
I only meant to spend a few minutes on the tree - it must be time for bed for a weary

Thank you everyone for filling in lots of empty twigs on my tree, especially during the early 20th century - been puzzling me for months why I couldn't find them!! ???
Now the mystery has been solved, well done.

ps - any more parts of the tree you come across would be greatly appreciated.

Afternoon Rootschatters
Does anyone know how I can find out, without purchasing a birth certificate, the parentage of a mystery person - it is ELIZABETH FANNY HENOCQ b.1882 Chelsea 1a/317 first quarter. The area is appropriate for the family but I cannot place this person.
Your help would be appreciated.

Hi
Have you just found the birth registration in the index or do you have something else?
There's no obvious baptism showing up.
Dawn
-
Looks like her death was registered in 1883 at Fulham.
-
That's quick!! I could only find a birth on the FreeBMD and not anything else. I wondered whether she had died young.
NANNY WITH ROSIE
-
The birth seems to have been transcribed as Elizabeth Fanny Henoco.
William
-
Depends on which source you are using for the birth and death data.
-
Have you tried looking at the 'fertility' information on the 1911 census to see if you can work out who her parents might have been (that's if they were still alive in 1911)
Unfortunately, due to the terms & conditions of the 1911 census suppliers sites, we can't do those look-ups for you.
-
Morning all - thank you for your responses.
Unfortunately the name Henocq has often been transcribed/misspelt so often I have lost track of what to try next, in the 1911 census it would appear to be Henry ???
Alexandra Fanny can wait a little longer, I am looking at other branches to see whether I can make more progress.
