Is there any one in the Nottinghamshire area with any information about John Bradshaw Lowe?
He was born in Horncastle Lincolnshire in 1891 the eldest son of John Bradshaw and Rebecca Lowe.He served in the King,s Liverpool Regiment and died aged 27 on the 15th November 1918.His wife Milly Lowe lived in Allen Street Hucknall. We know he died of influenza four days after the 1914-1918 war ended,he fort and is buried in the name of John Bradshaw Lowe in France.

As you have got his birth, his parents, his marriage and wife, and his death - what other information were you hoping for?
-
Sorry I should have put this in my original posting. He was registered and Baptised as Jack Lowe but for some reason he used his Fathers name.We believe when he died he had a daughter whose name we do not know, we would like to know if there are any surviving family members.

? ? ?
There is a marriage in Horncastle, Oct/Nov/Dec 1890 (ref 7a 1067) of a John Bradshaw Lowe.
Cant be him if he was born 1891.
Brides are Rebecca Smith or Mary Elizabeth Southwell

Looks as if wife was Rebecca (Smith) as they are on 1891 census, no children

By 1901 they have 6 children including 9 year old Jack.
I think that Jack 's parents were John Bradshaw Lowe and Rebecca nee Smith
And here is his birth:
Jul/Sug/Sep 1891
Horncastle ref 7a 536
Jack Lowe

Hi,
Looks like the marriage that Lizdb found is his parents marriage. I have just found the following on freebmd:
Lowe, Jack B to Hartshorne, Milly; September Qtr 1916; Basford; Volume 7b Page 314
Can't see any births at all for the marriage.
Hope this helps.
Kind regards
David

Dad dies in 1928
Probate index entry -
John Bradshaw Lowe of Horncastle Lincolnshire died 13 Feb 1928 Probate Lincoln 2 March to Rebecca Lowe widow
Might be worth getting the Will in case any grandchild (child of Jack) is mentioned?
Hopefully it would at least mention any of JAcks numerous siblings - unless it is all left to wife Rebecca of course.

Also from probate index
Rebecca Lowe of Ingram Row Horncastle widow died 10 April 1934 Probate to Fred Bedford labourer and Harold William Stockton clothiers assistant
-
Siblings from 1901 were
Lily 8
Edith 6
Ernest 5
Harold 3
Cyril 18 mths
may be more in by 1911!

Birth
Oct/Nov/Dec 1917
Basford ref 7b 435
Mary Lowe
mothers maiden name Hartshorn
-
Worryingly there is also this birth
Apr/May/Jun 1921
Basford 7b 577
Joseph A Lowe
mmn Hartshorn
So - either there is another Lowe/Hartshorn(e) couple around , which casts doubt on whether the Mary I found is the missing mystery daughter you were seeking
OR Milly has a child by someone else after John (Jack) dies, registering it with her current surname (Lowe) and her maiden name (Hartshorn(e)) but obviously Jack not the father.
Think you will need Mary's birth cert to see if she was the daughter of this marriage.

Thank you all for for finding so much information so quickly.

I received your last posting as I posted my thanks. I too think that we need the birth cert. for Mary.Private Lowe was my wife's Uncle,it was my wife's mother who told her that Jack had a little girl when he died. Because we did not know Jacks wife's surname only that they lived in Nottingham when Jack died, we were stuck. We got all our other information from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
Thank you once again.
Jonmar.
