I am completely stuck with a relative of mine Joseph Wood who according to his daughter Eleanor's marriage certificate in 1854 in Westminster was a Private in the 1st Battalion of the Greanadier Guards, the certificate also lists him as being deceased.
I cannot find them on the 1841 or 1851 census.
Eleanor was born about 1835 in St Marylebone/Westminster according to later census after she was married so i know he must have died between 1835-1854.
There are 3 poss deaths listed in Westminster between those dates one in 1838 one in 1843 and one in 1845. I have ordered the last 2.
I emailed the Greanadier Guards archivist with all the info i have to see if they would have any records but according to them i need to provide them with more i.e a birth date or a service number.
Any ideas on how i can find more information about Joseph? I would love to have some of his service information and be able to get back further on this line as i know of no wife or other children of his to be able to look that way.

The image for her baptism is on FindMyPast but you would need to buy credits to view it as FindMyPast T & C's do not allow publication of that info
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/KCZN-P28
It would give you her mothers name and confirm she was not illegitimate. If her father died pre-1841 - her mother may have re-married so knowing her name will help with that search
EDIT
However - it's probably this entry that's on FindMyPast so you may be wasting your money

She was baptised at Bryanston Sq St Mary, under the surname Woods, 29 Oct 1834. Parents Joseph and Hannah, father's occ. as on marriage record. All on A******y!
Bear in mind that Joseph could have died overseas as a serving soldier.
