I am trying to help a friend find out about his father's wartime service. Unfortunately he only has the name of his father and that he was born in 1919. He believes his father served in the infantry and after being wounded he was in the army postal running between Brussels and Paris, I have tried to look on the National Archives but can't find any trace of him. Any help greatly appreciated

Hi
WW2 records are not available online.
You can get them from http://www.veterans-uk.info/service_records/army.html but they will cost £30 and could take a little while to arrive. You will need the death certificate. If his wife is still with us she could get them for no cost.
