Not sure on birth dates but William passed in 88/89 he married Elsie blessed my dad is Derek ford he has brother Gordon ford sister Hillary. I think my grandfather family originated from great houghton. My grandad William lived on lowfield road in bolton passed away of cancer when I was 8/9. Don't really know much of rest of family I heard of Geoffrey and Nellie from a gentleman I look after. I know there was a lot brothers and sisters. I will speak to my dad and ask about dates and rest of his uncles and aunts. My dad Derek was a miner his date of birth (date removed by moderator) if that helps. Do you know my dad at all?

If you go to freebmd and look at births in the December qtr 1916 for William Ford and then look at those entries for William H Ford - only one of the 4 entries match a Yorkshire birthplace

www.freebmd.org.uk

Births December qtr 1916

Again from freebmd

Marriages June qtr 1915
Annie Baines to William H Ford  Barnsley  9c 461

Marriages December qtr 1903
Alice  Beal to George William Blessed   Rotherham  9c 1116

A quick sum up for you

Grandparents William Henry Ford b 1916 & Elsie Blessed b 1919 married 1938

Great grandparents William Henry Ford & Annie Baines married 1915 and George Wm Blessed & Alice Beal  married 1903

You can look up the Blessed family on the 1911 census - Rootschat do not allow 1911 lookups - which will give you details of their family at that time plus birthplaces.  Freebmd shows a birth entry for George William Blessed in 1880 Doncaster and this is the 1881 entry for him

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XQNJ-7C1

You will need to buy a copy of the 1915 marriage cert for William Henry Ford and Annie Baines to find their respective ages and their fathers names so you can look for them on the 1911 census

I think you are referring to a different post

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=80813.msg5115636#msg5115636

Dennford was online today and will have received a notification that you have posted.  His location is Western Australia so make allowances for the time difference.  I will post the link to this post on the other so Dennford can see your family line to determine if you are related

Looking at his post - there doesn't seem to be any immediate connection but no doubt he will let you know

Okay I had my moment so now down to business.

Yes we are related, your dad is my cousin Your great uncle Geoffrey - my birth cert' has him as Jeffrey (the spelling may make a difference in any searches) is my Father.

I knew most of the Ford side of my family although not nearly as well as my mothers side. this is due to my parents parting when I was very young; so afterwards we only saw the Fords occasionally. However I may be able to help you a little

I have your grandfather William (uncle Bill and aunty Elsie to me) who as you say lived on Lowfield rd. I used to visit them from time to time and remember your dad vaguely, however his brother G***** (not sure whether or not I can name him)is the same age as myself so we had more in common. I remember your Grandad Bill was a very keen and able gardener who won many trophies and awards

Bill as you say came from a large family Most of whom are now passed away.
Ronald x May
William x Elsie Blessed
Mary x Ron
Jeffrey x Ruby Sales
George x Doreen (George was a policeman)
Nellie x Septimus Latham
Fred married late in life whilst stil a guest of H.M.
And the youngest who may still be alive today

parents were
William henry Ford 1892-1967
and
Annie Baines 1894-1959

then I have

Henry Baines 1856-1929
and
Eliza *** to 1940

Joseph Baines 1846-1885
and
Emma Dixon

That is about as much as I can help with the family tree, however I can possibly fill in with a few memories and at least one pic of uncle George.

hope this helps

Denn

P.S. Did you know that the actor Brian Blessed is your dad's cousin?

Denn

Hi thanx for the reply nice to hear from you. I only met Brian once due to being in school choir and was opening the dearne high school. I used to love helping my grandad do gardening and I used to love going to the allotments with him and on walks with Toby his dog. A gentleman I look after told me about your dad and his brothers as he use to befriends with them all when he was a kid. Apparently they all used to get upto some mischief

Hi,

my name is John latham from Thurnscoe and I believe we have common ancestry, my mother is Nellie Latham, nee Ford.

I also remember with great fondness that great garden in BoD.

I remember Dennis and Tony from visits to Aunty Ruby's house in BoD though that's many years past.

If any of you are still in need of further info, or just want to chat it'd be great to hear from you.

Regards,

J

Hi John,

Great to hear see you on rootschat' it's so long since I last saw you; I saw your Sister way back in 1986 when we were visiting the U.K. If I remember she had a pet shop in Goldthorpe - My wife Rose asks where is she now?

Hi Denn,
yeah it's a long time mate; a very long time.
Probably the last time I met I was nought but a we bairn, probably at BoD?
Not sure where to start really....
I'm living in Singapore presently with my wife. This is the second time we've lived here, previously it was between 1992 and 2001 when we had the kids with us. I wasn't aware that you lived in Perth. A bugger really since we used to go to Hillary's Boat Harbour at Joondalup for holidays on a regular basis. We know Australia quite well.
I was also in Chile for a couple of years and for the past 22 years I've worked overseas in the Americas, Oz, NZ, Europe and of course Sinagpore.

Details of living people removed in accordance with our 'no living people' policy

I've got 2 sons 29 and 27, both of whom are in the UK now. One living and working in London, soon to get married to an Irish girl, and the other living in our family home in Burton on Trent. At my cost! Though he is working.

We're here for a while but I'm looking for another job. A bit bored with this one.

It would be good to continue the chat but like you I'm in the middle of a day at work.

I'm also new to this chat forum, or any other for that matter, and to the family tree stuff. Would it be easier to exchange by email?

Speak soon.

Regards,

JL

Hi All, my name is Andy O'Sullivan, I live in Worksop and I am acting on behalf of my mother.  She has recently applied to South Yorkshire adoption team for any details about her birth father.  This week she received the information that her birth father is a chap called Fred Ford from South Yorkshire.

I have done a small search on google and found a few things, one being this thread, hence the message.

My mothers mum was Joan Hindley who lived in Edlington.  Mum was born in 1952.

I am wondering if the Fred Ford mentioned is relevant to my mum.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Andy

Welcome to rootschat, Andy.

As you have read this thread you must be aware that living people cannot be discussed, so could you confirm that this is the Fred Ford that you may be interested in?

Hi,

The only information that we have is a name.  I have searched the name Fred Ford.  Thus far the Fred Fords that I have found is as follows:

This thread (and related threads).
An Article in The Sheffield Star regarding a WWII Veteran
A death notice in the Sheffield Star

All 3 Fred Fords have different ages and would be between 80 and 90 years old now.

So in answer to your question, I couldn't tell you any other details apart from a name as the adoption papers that my mother has only has a name, no address or anything.  My mother was adopted by her step-father in 1958/59 so the information really is vague.

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Andy

Hi Andy,

There is a possibility that my uncle Fred may be who you are looking for, but then again maybe not, however I have sent an email to Carriew1 to see if she may be able to throw any light on it.
