hi,i wonder if anyone can help. my great grandfather was james henry lackin,but on researching ive found that it was really larkin. his father peter was born in sligo around 1849- and moved to hartlepool where my great grandad was born in 1882. i believe peter was married tomargaret dalton. how can i find peter in sligo?! thanks.

A good starting point would be to buy a copy of his marriage cert which should show his fathers name

Lackin in 1891 and a big difference in birthyears - all children b W Hartlepool

If you check freebmd - you will find some of the childrens births were registered as Larkin and som as Lackin

thanx for that-3 different names-gets confusing! knew of larkin and lackin but not lackan. thanks a lot. :)

In 1901 he is a widower living with married daughter Mary E and her husband William Devine
This time he is aged 50 and born Sligo

My grandmother Mary Edwards nee Larkin nee Devine. I believe my mother Sarah was only 2/3yrs old
when her mother Mary died.

Nice to hear from you regarding our extended family,I know very little about the Larkin's.

My mum as stated was the daughter of Mary Edwards who was the daughter of Peter Larkin,
as you can imagine it became a little complicated.I look forward to your reply.I live in a village
near Wetherby W Yorks. My mum died 10 yrs ago at the age  of 96.
