Title: JC Rose (chaplain?) Somerset LI
Post by: Scotborders on Thursday 24 October 13 17:26 BST (UK)
Does anyone know anything of the JC Rose (and does CF = chaplain, att = attached?) of the 2/4 Somerset Light Infantry, signatory to the attached letter which was written to my grandmother, probably from France/Belgium?

There is a Medal Roll Index Card for a Joseph C Rose who was a private in the Somerset LI Royal Fusiliers

CF = Chaplain to the Forces: it all fits.

You'd be able to follow him up via Crockfords Clerical Directory as well as via the military.

Yes, that's the Chaplain Rose - many thanks to "gb" and GS - I'll follow up those leads. His note to my grandmother was sent almost 3 weeks before the official Army notification (reporting that husband was in hospital in Boulogne), so well done JC Rose. If there is anyone out there with connections.......let me know.
