Hi, would be very grateful, if anyone has any photos (old postcards) or any information/memories about the McCall bakery in Ayr, High Street.
I have seen some entries in the trade directories of the late C19th.
I have been in touch with Ayr Archives, but no photos.
Thanks

Have you tried a general search for old Ayr postcards, such as Ayr High Street from collections such as Francis Firth?

Hi Helen,
Thanks for the advice, but yes I have scoured the web (including FF) and keep checking ebay regularly.
Still nothing yet though! :(

The Ayrshire History Facebook group has some images of old Ayr, so if you know the location of the shop it might be captured in some of those photos (see example attached).

The RCHAMS (Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland) have a photo of the bakery that I have now ordered.
Thanks

Hello While I have no pictures of McCalls Bakery my mother's stepfather was Major Anthony Gilchrist McCall OBE ICS who was directly descended from the McCalls as Bakers in Ayr.

Thanks yes I paid around £20 for this photo from RCHAMS and then after I paid for it, it appeared on their website for anyone to access for free...
