Hello
I would very much like some help to trace the parents of Joseph Miles b.1715 (?) - 2/2/1795. He married Mary Martha Bartholomew on 8/7/1739 at St Mary's in Speen.
He might have been born in Sydmonton, Kingsclere.
His children were Sarah Miles (b.1748 -); John Miles (b. 1750-) and Joseph Miles (1753-1809). I'm not sure if Sarah and John are correct though.
I look forward to hearing from you

I think you posted this request yesterday and we replied ? :-\
I could anything else that would help-have a look at John Lewis's site "Kingsclere Families" and see if there is anything on there that helps

Thanks for your reply, Kim. I was following Vicwinann's suggestion to post here as well. I looked at John Lewis's site but it doesn't tell me anything new.
Your suggestion that Joseph's parents were John and Ann is certainly a possibility however the family seem firmly rooted in Kingsclere / Newbury rather than Basingstoke. I know that these villages (as they probably were then) are relatively close so it remains a possibility. I was wondering how I could find out if Joseph had any siblings in the same area and cross-reference them with the baptism record of Joesph's? I'm not really sure what is the best way forward?
Thanks,
Simon

Simon,
There is a link on the Hampshire Resources - Hampshire Parish Registers topic (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=435600.0) to Kingsclere parish registers -

Having checked the baptisms, Joseph does not appear to be recorded there. So you may have to widen the search, perhaps to include parishes in Berkshire. I have found another Joseph Miles baptised in 1715, but in the parish of Bramshaw in the New Forest. Perhaps too far away. :-\
A Joseph Miles of Sidmonton was buried in Kingsclere in 1774, but before that the last Miles burial was in the previous century.
John & Ann in Basingstoke also appear to have had the following children: Ann, Mary, John, William, ELizabeth and Jane. Sadly all the names are relatively common.
