Hi - not sure what sort of info you're after, but I found two of that name on the 1901 census - one

Dundee b 1885 & the other Coupar b 1896.Do you want that?

Hi,

Thanks for the info regarding Williamina in the census records, I had noted them.
We know nothing about her apart from the fact she had an illegitimate child in 1919.
She gave up the child more or less at birth after which the child was reared by the father.
Where and when she was born and what happened after the birth of the child is a mystery.
The Devil's Porridge museum at Eastrigg's was unable to throw any light on Williamina either as some of their records were missing.

Hi Charlotte ,

You will probably be aware of this already , www.doig.net
Quote
was taken to live with William Woodhouse, who may have been his father, in Mayport, Cumbria. He never knew about this until he was getting married and then changed his name by deed poll to Woodhouse-Doig.

Not much more on Williamina Doig other than that she was born c1898 in Scotland , not sure where that information came from.

Hi ev,

Thanks for your message, I am aware of the Woodhouse-Doig connection.

Regarding the birth of a Williamina around 1898, the only one recorded in Scotland's People between 1891 & 1901 is a Williamina McFarlane Doig born in 1897 in Coupar Angus, Perthshire.
Any thoughts ??

SP has a death for a Williamina Mcfa(as much as can be entered) Doig 1965 Coupar Angus Perth , born c1898. Can't get other surname to show so possibly never married.

Might prove difficult to make a connection to a munitions worker in Dumfries 1919  :-\

Hi there,
We have a Williamina  in our family tree.
Williamina Collie b. 1897 m. Peter Doig.
She was my mother's aunty, sister of Robert Collie. Not sure if this helps or is the right Williamina. Look forward to hearing from you.
Cheers
Ros

Hi Ros,

Do you think your Williamina may tie in with my original message, i.e any possible connection with the factory Devil's Porridge at Eastriggs.

Thanks

Sorry I have no idea. I can tell you she married Peter Doig in 1921 in Angus, Dundee. And she died in 1929 in Halifax, York, England. Her mother was Mary Ross and her father was Robert Collie.
Hope this helps.

Hi Ros,

Thanks for your reply, it would appear that we are talking about a different Williamina as my one was Williamina Doig in 1919 when she gave birth.
However it does clarify one thing as we did notice the death entry for a Williamina Doig in Halifax and wondered if she was the person we are looking for.

Thanks again
