Hello,
Could someone please look up a marriage for me between Christiana McIntosh and John Spence?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Here is the marriage plus birth of a child.

thanks for the link.
I was hoping to discover the name of Christiana's parents. That is, I thought her father's name might be shown on the parish record. If the transcription on FamilySearch.org doesn't have that, do you know if that means it wasn't included on the marriage record, or was it perhaps just not transcribed?

The father's name would not be included in a marriage record until 1838 when civil registration began

Hi,
I can't give you a transcription from the PR, but I can give you the marriage entry on the Bristol & Avon Family History Society (BAFHS) Marriage Register, Volume 8, 1813-1837:-
John SPENCE, of this parish, married Christiana McIntosh at St James, Bristol, 9th October 1826.
Register 3m1, Page 178, Number 532 refers.

Thanks for looking up the marriage entry for me! I'm so disappointed to not find at least her father there -- didn't know they weren't included in parish records.
Does anyone have any suggestions for other records where I might could confirm her parents? I know that this Christiana was born in Scotland, and I have a possible match for a birth record in Scotland, but really have no way of connecting that Christiana with the one who married John in Bristol.

Hi,
I've just noticed that I failed to tell you that Christiana was "of this parish". Your one chance of her father from the marriage entry would to check the actual PR entry. It might show her father as one of the witnesses, but if Christiana hailed from Scotland it will probably be unlikely for her father to attend the marriage. Another option is to check the 1851 Census which should record her place of birth.
The marriage record is held at Bristol Records Office - www.bristol.gov.uk. You could also try BAFHS:-

Great- I'll try those contacts you suggest.
I have Christiana & John's census records 1841-1871, and she was born in Scotland.
Thanks, Victor
