Title: Sussex West Lookup Please?

My ancestors, William Wakeford and Maria Jennings, were married 29 Sep 1823 in East Lavant, SSW. Am trying to find their parents. Maybe I need OPR lookup?

Fathers names were not shown on marriage entries prior to 1.7.1837 - mothers names are never shown?

Is this the right 1851 entry?  If so - they were both born in Hampshire - not Sussex.  All b Southampton except William

The 1841 has a William & Mary Wakeford in Lodsworth Sussex both aged 50

If the 1851 census (as posted by CaroleW) is the William that you are researching then this could be his baptism -

Birth Date - 19 Jan 1797
Christening Place - Andover, Southampton
Father - William Steele Wakeford
Mother - Elizabeth
Maternal Grandfather - Robert Bartlett

Not the name Maria Jennings that you are looking for.

Thank you all so much, but there were two William and Maria Wakeford couples. Maria Darvall is not mine They were Andover, mine was Chichester first, then Alverstoke, then Willey, Warwickshire

Can you include some details like birthyears/birthplaces/children - names, birthyears and birthplaces etc as it will help to avoid confusion with other couples with the same names

This is the 1851 census for South Stoneham Hampshire - the children listed match the details you have posted above but Emily is 7yrs old

Finally found them in 1841 in Willey - Warwickshire indexed as Wakefield all shown as not born in county
