I am looking for any information on the above family. They had a grocers shop on Chuch Road Northenden.
I am hoping to get information on Anne (known as Nance) B 1893 Worsnop & William E C Worsnop B 1894
Thanks
Anne

As per freebmd - William was not born in Cheshire
Births March qtr 1894
William Ewart C Worsnop Huddersfield 9a 255
Was Anne his wife?
Freebmd shows William married in Whitchurch Shropshire in 1929 to Anne Jackson
William died in Cheshire in 1963
www.freebmd.org.uk
Doesn't look as though they had any children. There is a 1936 birth in Leeds but there is another Worsnop/Jackson marriage in Leeds in 1934
Can you tell us exactly what type of info you are looking for?
1901 census for Northenden Cheshire
Smith Worsnop 40 milk dealer b Sheffield - died 1932
Hannah 43 b Slaithwaite Yorks
William E C 7 b Marston Yorks
Arthur H 3 b Northenden Cheshire
John C 2 ditto
Norah A Greene 18 servant b Herts

Unless you have more info about Anne Jackson - you will need to buy a copy of the 1929 marriage cert to get her age and her fathers name and occupation
I can't see any death for her in Cheshire

There is a death in 1979 Tameside Cheshire for an Annie Worsnip b 5.5.1893 and freebmd has a birth for Ann Jackson in the September qtr 1893 in Ellesmere Shropshire
Marriage entry shows her as Anne and a birth on 5th May should have been registered in the June qtr

Anne Worsnop died in the 1970's, I remember that, I was about 10/12. I am looking for Any information about the shop that bears the Wornop name 29 Church Rd. My G Parents had the shop next door (31), but the row with the Wornop shop on had been knocked down by then and the Ford garage used the area for parking cars.

Hi Anne,
Northenden now comes under the County of Lancashire, although it was once Cheshire (pre- 1926) and sometimes even now it is referred to as being in Cheshire. Northenden is now classed as being part of Wythenshawe.
There is a photo of Worsnop's shop on the Manchester Images Website:
http://images.manchester.gov.uk/index.php?
In the search box put in Northenden 29, and it is the first picture. (click onto image a couple of times and it will enlarge it)
Have you tried contacting Northenden Library I believe there is/was a local history group about Northenden. They maybe able to help you? (I wouldn't contact Wythenshawe Library as they have nothing available for the area and they wouldn't be able to tell you who might be of use to contact.)
Good Luck
Cancan :)
