Hi
I've just discovered a cousin, Arthur Mutton emigrated to Australia in 1958. He was born in Devon (UK) in 1915, married Gladys Hambly in 1939.
He sailed from Southampton in MV Fairsea, Feb 1958 and arrived in Freemantle March 1958 with his wife, son(b 1944) and daughter(b1947). I found some records held in Perth but don't tell me much.
Any information would be very much appreciated.
Thanking you in anticipation
Byron
Names of possibly living people removed

Can't help much with Australian records -but it may help others to search if you posted middle names too -but please bear in mind it is RootsChat policy to not post names of the living/maybe living

From freebmd
Deleting the names in case they may still be alive. Can you confirm they have died?
-
If you look in freebmd for the birth of Arthur H Mutton, say between 1900 and 1924, there is a result, with mother's maiden name (mmn) of Mogridge.
http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl
-
Freebmd, marriage
Elsie A Mugridge (spelling not Mogridge) m June 1815, Newton Abbott, vol 5a, page 389
Only three names on page, and spouse is missing. Was Mutton though. His name was Percival W Mutton. There's a slight error in his index entry.
So now you can trace them back with freebmd and the censuses. And a certificates where necessary.

Thank you Suzard and Silvery, I have their history upto their emigration, it's their life in Australia that I'm trying to establish. I do not know if any of the children are still alive.
Thanks again

There is an Ask A Librarian service at W.A. State Library where if you give them the death date (as shown on burial records) they will look up death notices and e-mail them to you.
http://www.slwa.wa.gov.au/find/services/information_services
It was an excellent service that I have used in the past but I believe there may now be a small charge involved. Cando knows more about this ...
regards,
Ros
adding : Yes Cando tells me they now charge for this service :(

Many, many thanks cando & rosball for the information and links, I will try to use them to dig a bit further. This is my first 'encounter' with Australian FH so am on a learning curve ! ???
It must be the birth records I need to get any nearer to 'today'
Thanks again for your time and effort

Western Australia BDM http://www.bdm.dotag.wa.gov.au/ only shows births up until 1932 (and for privacy reason the parents are not shown after 1905) as these people are probably living.
The best way to find current family members is from death notices of the relatives.
The white pages http://www.whitepages.com.au/ are a possibility. Hit residential, enter Mutton and location Western Australia. There are a couple of possibilities for Ivan's wife
regards,
Ros

Thanks again Rosball, I'll take a look
Ivan had a sister born in 1947 who could be possibly be still with us.
I was wondering if a local paper would be sypathelic in publishing a request for information ?

Yes good thinking Byron :) some newspapers have "missing friends/relatives" columns but I'm not sure which ones in Perth (I live on other side of Oz)
The West Australian http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/
The Sunday Times http://www.perthnow.com.au/
The Post http://www.postnewspapers.com.au/
There's also this site https://archive.thewest.com.au/index.php where you can get access to the West Australian (July 2004-present) for 24 hours for $8
Or this site which gives free obits http://www.westannouncements.com.au/obituaries/thewest-au from 2011 until present.
There's also a kind rootschatter who sometimes visits the National Library where they hold all newspapers and could look up for you.
regards,
Ros

Hi Rosball
I'll certainly contact the newspapers and see what response there is, meanwhile I'll search the other sites. It would be unfair to ask someone to spend time at the Nat. Archives until or when I have some more info and dates,it was very nice to offer.
I'll let you know of any results, if you are interested, perhaps you can let me have your e-mail address thro' the PM.
If I can help in any way with any UK research please let me know.
Thank you again for all your help

Yes I'd like to know how you get on - and so would others. You can let us all know. :)
(except for details of the living sister - yes I'll send you a pm)
cheers,

Hi Ros
