Title: FTM 2011
Post by: larkspur on Tuesday 08 October 13 15:23 BST (UK)
Why oh why, have all my citations for birth certificates morphed into just the one. I now have 20 names with MY birth certificate details on them. The details that belong to the other 19 have vanished......

I no longer use FTM, but when I did, I found that I needed to enter separate source references e.g. Birth Joe Bloggs, Birth Jane Doe, rather than just have one source called Births that all certificates were ascribed to. When I tried the latter, the source showed only details of one of the certificates I had entered.

Ok Isabell thank you for that one. What a shame..... ::)
Could I please be cheeky and ask why you no longer use it, have you found a better one??

I changed because the version I had was so old it was unlikely to work on our new computer!  However the more recent versions had features I didn't want, so I looked around for something else and chose Family Historian. It took a little getting used to, but I really like it now. It stores more notes than my old FTM could, and many features can be tailored to your own requirements.

It isn't necessarily better, but it suits me. Trial versions of genealogy software that are available for download are a useful way of finding what works best for you.

Thank you, I have had a couple of trials, but not with Family Historian, so I may give it a go.

I haven't logged on to RootsChat for a while, but just did so and saw your problem with entering sources. I can tell you that you are not the first person to have exactly this problem. If you haven't already sorted out the problem you may be interested in something I wrote up describing how to enter sources (and not lose them). You can download it from http://sdrv.ms/17OJsQN.

Oh my word, I must be stupid   ::) I just find this so complicated and cumbersome. The more I try the worse it gets. I have just now replaced everyone's birth certificate details with my mothers. AAAGGGHHH
I hate source citations, I know I know- it is the correct way- still won't stop me hating it >:(
