My GGrandfather Denis Walsh married Hannah Bond at the Cathedral of St Mary and St Anns, City of Cork, 02 Dec 1876.
His occupation is shoemaker and his father Edwd Walsh is labourer.
Hannah's father William Bond is a shoemaker and the address for both family is Cattle Market Street.
Is anyone able to do a baptismal look up for Denis Walsh born Blarney Street 1856 and/or Hannah Bond born the same year but location unknown?

Hi Jackdan & welcome to Rootschat. Unfortunately both Denis & Hannah were born prior to Civil registration in 1864.
www.irishgenealogy.ie has baptism records/marriage records for churches of South Parish & St Peter & Paul churches, had a look but didnt see any records for them. What denomination were they? On looking at census records 1901 for Cork www.nationalarchives.ie there are several entries for surname of Bond.
On www.familysearch.org there are 2 baptism records for 2 of their children namely:
Denis Walsh 20/8/1878 Vol 5 Page 116
Mary Walsh b. 25/7/1877 Vol 15 Page 148. You can obtain photocopies of these birth certs from www.groireland.ie for €4 For Mary it gives her fathers birthplace as Blarney Street, Cork.

Thank you so much, ballydw, for your time and interest.
I have got copies of the birth reg for Mary, born in the Cork Union 25 Jul 1877
also, Denis, born Upper Cattle Street 20 Aug 1878.
My grandmother, Margaret Mary, born 385 Blarney Street 01 May 1891.
Other siblings without accurate dates were:
Thomas, born 1888, KIA 04 Nov 1918 Battle of the Sambre, France
William, born abt. 1886
Michael, born 1895, died 20 Mar 1956, Bedwelty, Glam.
Hannah, born abt. 1897
Julia, apparently married in Waterford, husband unknown. Ancestry has a record for 1915.
The Walsh family were RC and as Denis and Hannah were married 'according to the Rites and
Ceremonies of the RC Church' then, if Hannah was not RC, perhaps she converted.
A witness to the marriage was an Arther Bond. The 'Cork Examiner' for 1860 has a report of a
summons on charges of intimidation against an Arthur Bond, journeyman shoemaker.
As the Walsh/Bond families were shoemakers this might be the same person. I would like to know
if there are records for shoemakers/cordwainers in the National Archives. I must find out.
Many thanks again, ballydw.

Irish Prison Registers at Family Search has an Arthur Bond age 16 in 1847 born Cork in 1831 an apprentice [to what?]eloping from his master.
-
Thank you, dathai, for a very interesting lead. I will register at FamilySearch center and see if
there are more details to discover. As the newspaper relates to intimidation during a strike of
shoemakers in 1860's Cork I'm hoping the apprenticeship was for that trade.
Interestingly there are census returns on Ancestry for 1901 and 1911 for an Arthur Bond, shoe and
boot maker born Cork abt 1826 for Bethnal Green and Deptford. Also a death reg for a 91 yrs. Arthur
Bond, Bethnal Green, 1915, buried by parish.

Hi Jackdan,
I did a search today at the library for your Walsh=Bond family and found some records as
follows-
You mentioned one of the children Mary was born at the Cork Union and she is not listed
on these records.
Children of Denis & Hannah Bond
Name Date Address
Denis 19.8.1878 Cattle Market Street
Julia 26.10.1880 5 Upper Cattle Street
Edward 12.4.1883 Cattle Market Street
William 19.9.1885 St Josephs Court
Thomas 17.5.1888 Blarney Street
Margaret 5.1.1891 Blarney Street
Michael 13.8.1893 Corbett's Lane
These are from the parish register books held at the Cork County library. It says
birth dates as opposed to baptismal date???
I also found records for Arthur Bond 26.9.1843 no parents recorded
also a Catherine Bond no details recorded date or parents. You didn't say on your post if
Hannah Bond's father was Arthur.
No record for name Hannah Bond but one for Catherine Bond 26.11.1859 parents William Bond & Julia Murphy and her sister Julia date 7.11.1861
I had a look for birth dates for Denis Walsh there were many records for this name.
As you have the marriage cert for Denis & Hannah you already have their father's names.
I took down just a few Denis Walsh records
Denis Walsh birth 7.8.1857 Parents Denis Walsh & Honora Mullane
John 27.7.1862 same parents
Margaret 28.10.1859 same parents
so this could be your Denis & his parents ????
Also a marriage for Catherine Bond to Michael Connell 30.1.1886
I'm sure these will be some help to you.

I'm so grateful to you Mary for taking the time to look up these records for me.
My grandmother's birth date is correct and the addresses tie in with other records so I believe
these are my grandmother's siblings. I'm particularly pleased to have Julia's date of birth as she
has proved elusive and now I have a date to help me. My aunt tells me she married in Waterford
and this date makes a record I have noted for a marriage there for 1915 worth purchasing.
Arthur Bond appears as a witness to the marriage of Denis and Hannah, Hannah's father recorded
as William a shoemaker by trade. An Arthur Bond shoemaker appears in the Cork Examiner in
1860 so I think there may be a connection here to (my) Edward Bond shoemaker -- the record you
found for an Arthur bond for 1843 would match for period.
Denis's Father was an Edward so the record you found with parents Denis and Honora is
unfortunately not a match. As you say, there are many records for a Denis Walsh.
Thank you again, Mary, I hope I may be of some service to you in the future by way of return.
