I wonder if anyone has access to the South Marston marriage registers.
Specifically I am looking for a transcription of the full marriage entry for Thomas Wimblett and Catherine Benjamin who were married at South Marston on 24 September 1679. I am hoping that the parish of origin for each may be given.
Many thanks

On Friday just gone I copied the relevant information from the microfiche at Swindon Library. I am afraid that that time period of the registers are very badly written and all I managed to make out from it was Thomas and the B at the beginning of Benjamin and the date. There is no other information that I could see, illegible or not. You have provided me with valuable information, although I would like to know the source of your information before I add it to my website. There is a possibility that the Bishops transcripts will hold more information but in the main they are are worse than the register.

I obtained the basic information from the Wiltshire Marriage Index on Ancestry.com
Many thanks

OK will make a note of that, thankyou.

Are you in some way connected to these families?

I was born and grew up in South Marston and have family there going back over 200 years but I am afraid that has far as I know I have no connection to these people. I am in the process of transcribing the PR's for South Marston onto a website;

Fantastic work Youngtug. I have looked at the three sites and although I already have most of the information, I am looking forward to going through it all in detail to see if anything I don't have can be found.
I note in the Baptisms that the years from 1725 - 1769 are missing.

It is an ongoing process of transcribing and adding to the site. When I can I drop into the library and copy a few records and at later date add them to the site. I am afraid that I sometimes miss a section but it will be added later. It would be best if you checked the site regularly, although sometimes it can be a while between updates.
