Hi All
Iam trying to finish my wifes family tree and this is the person who has me stumped. He was a qualified in mining engineering in 1908 in Newcastle England. I think he married a Rosetta Thompson. His father was John Henry Stevens and his mother was Emily Rose.I also beleive he had a son named Robert Leonard Stevens b 1912. What info I am after is - did he marry in Canada - when did he go to Canada and which year he died. Any help would be grateful

The 1921 Canadian census has not yet been indexed - it is only browsable on ancestry.
The address given in 1921 for Leonard Stevens was 9827 85 Ave. Edmonton. With that information you might be able to find them.

It looks like Rosetta was going to Burmis Alberta - southwest portion of Alberta. I wonder if the Lethbridge newspaper would have any announcement of marriage. There are no online databases for BMDs in Alberta. Service Alberta will charge you a lot of money for a marriage certificate and only if you meet certain requirements.

- plenty of hits if you search the newspapers for "L.C. Stevens".
Most are to do with his work, but here is Robert's marriage notice:

His wife's obituary shows that Robert passed away in 2001. There are living descendants listed:

Thanks a million to all, I never thought I would get that amount of info ! I live in Glasgow Scotland and would never have found that amount. My wife has photos of L C Stevens and his family in Canada but there was no names or info on them so your help has finally finished her family tree. Once again thanks very much.

I have quite a lot of photos of L C stevens and his family from the 1920s to 1940s and also a letter he wrote (just before he died) to his niece in england (my wifes godmother). I would like the Stevens family to have these but have no way of finding them, any ideas ??
thanks shawsboy

You could try contacting the Funeral Chapel mentioned in Robert's wife's 2009 obituary and ask them to forward a message to family members. I did an Internet search on the name of the Funeral Chapel and from its website it seems to be a well-established funeral home - and they also provide an email address.

Thanks Linda I will try that

Leonard Stevens is my great great uncle. I would be interested to see the letter you refer to. My grandma was a niece of his. I was wondering if the letter was to her or her sister.
Thanks

For your records I ran across a item on the site The Recents and found a notice for a marriage for L C Stevens and Rosetta Thompson for their marriage which appeared in the Calgary Herald dated 1911.
For more info it is a paid site. I believe the price is $15.00 Canadian for the article. Hope this is helpful for you.

Yes. My grandmother was the daughter of William Henry Rose Stevens. Until I looked at the thread you started I didn't know anything about Leonard other than his name and date of birth.

this is LCS and his wife Rosetta Thompson

his mother emily rose 1857 - 1954

This is really interesting. I have the first photo but my grandparents wrote on the back that this was John Henry Stevens and Emily Rose. My grandmother saw her grandparents regularly even into their old age. I don't have the second one and it does look like Leonard. I haven't got the third one but she doesn't look like Emily Rose. It looks to me like this could be the generation back. However I don't recognise her.

on the back of the photo was emilys name. i also have this photo which says its W.H.Rose Stevens if so is this your relative ?
