Hi Joe
I'm sorry but there's no place that can simply be looked up to find what you want. The info you require is contained in the official register of marriages maintained by Registrar of BDM, nor is it free. You will find the on-line process detailed in the "NZ Resources" at the top of the NZ page under the link "Vital Records".
Good Luck
Alan

Hello,
I can do a marriage look up for you. Unfortunately all you will get will be the year of the marriage and name of the spouse............
Do you need the name of the spouse?
To obtain information about the parents you will need to purchase a printout from BDM New Zealand.

Thank for the quick reply it is most helpful, when I did a check on her birth it list as being 1908 and being married in 1925 would have made her a minor would this be correct

Hello...
Reasonably sure but no proof that this is Olive who married in 1925 and her husband.

Hi again...
The obvious probates seem to be lodged in Invercargill but the burials I mentioned are in Auckland. Does this seem right?
BATES Olive May - Invercargill - Widow

Hi again...
PapersPast has the 1925 marriage

Way down south again. Can't see the Auckland connection so I think I'm on a wild goose chase :-)

Hi,
The Auckland death found by Beg shows this lady to have been aged 68 years in 1972. Therefore born abt. 1904.
Of course information provided at registration can be a bit and miss..........

Hi Minnie...
The father of the 1908 birth is Thomas, not Alex as mentioned in the above PapersPast snippet.
-----
Hi again texasjoe...
Possibly this is the cemetery record of "Mr and Mrs Alex COOK of Nightcaps" mentioned in PapersPast. Simply because Ancestry has a 1930 mention of an Alex Y COOK living in Nightcaps.
Gore Cemetery
Alexander Young COOK and Martha Mary COOK
http://www.rootschat.com/links/0wdy/ (http://www.rootschat.com/links/0wdy/)
There's a 1903 marriage between Alexander Young COOK and Martha Mary Foster DAVIDSON
Still just guessing

There is another marriage for Olive May Cook in 1931 to George Laurence SMITH
-
Hi kimmie
I have just looked at the one that you mention here , did a check on the death which mentions 1970 age is listed as 62 which would make her possible birth year 1908
If this one has the parents listed as being Thomas William Cook & Elizabeth Cook nee Hunter
will wait and see if this is correct

Not sure how to go about finding her parents unless your ordered a marriage certificate for her. But I have found the article on papers past thats already been mentioned that the 1925 marriage her parents are different.

Joe
You asked re the marriageable age in 1925, an issue we sweated over last year. in 1925 it was 14 years for males & 12 years for females. In 1933 the minimum age of marriage was raised to 16 years.

Hi alama
That seems very young , but with 2 girls having the same name makes this very interesting Kimmie the one that married in 1925 and the one that married in 1931 the later one, year of death looks like to me to follow that lead as it is in the Taranaki region and so far as I know the family may not have moved the South Island.
again thank you all for the help

In looking up the official BMD records there is a record of an Olive May Cook who married a Nathaniel Bates in 1925. From the numbering / 5 it would suggest that this was registered at the very beginning of 1925.
The official BMD reords record that an Olive May Cook was born in 1908 to Thomas William Cook and Elizabeth as the mother.
There is also a record of a Nathaniel Bates who died in 1964 at the age of 61 , and a birth record of a Nathanel Bates in 1902 to parents of Nathaniel and Bridget Bates,
This information is free online, but if you need places and exact dates then one would need to order a certificate - or better still a copy bof the registration which is slightly cheaper,
