I have found a record for my great grandmother in the 1901 census shown as a patient at the Upton, Chester Mental Asylum. I cannot find any further information about her either whether she stayed there or whether she moved somewhere else or when she died.
How can I find this information

I have seen that death registration and can only assume it is her but I just can't imagine what happened to her between 1901 in the asylum and death in 1928. I have records of her husband and children but she just disappears.

hi,,,,Do you have acess to the 1911 census?
I have seen many 1911 census returns for people in institutions where the names are recorded as initials only,,,in this case say M B or M A E B,,,,,,,If you have access,,,search with forename M and Surname B ONLY,,,,,,choose just Cheshire,,,,you will see 2 results in Upton Asylum which could be her,,,,trouble is,,,not much other corroborating info is supplied,,,its my hunch that 1 of them might be her,,,,and this is why you have not found her previously. ;)

The 1911 census is free to search on Anc. until 14 October ;)

I think its likely she remained in the Asylum until her death.....the death cert should tell you,one way or the other.I have sent you a private message,,,please check your messages at top of page.
I believe I have found her in 1911,,,but we cannot post details on the forum.
