Hi
I am looking for the following Stewart's from Frizington, Cumbria, England. Joseph William Stewart b 1888, Matthew Stewart b 1886 and Robert Stewart b 1884. They all appeared in the 1901 census but no trace of them after this apart from Robert who married in 1908 and no record of him from this date.

The above all appear to be estate papers. There is also a reference to a Robert Stewart who applied for and was granted a remission of his sentence in 1922! Unsure whether he could be your relative or not.

Hi Nookie
Many thanks for you info. Not sure what estate papers refer to unless it means property, and was Robert in jail. Also how can we find out their ages.

Sorry for the delay in replying but my computer was hit by lighting :(
When I referred to Estate papers I meant the paperwork involved with Estates i.e. when someone has died and their will is dealt with, a liquidation and distribution account drawn up, and their assets distributed to the heirs. However the only way of establishing whether these are your relatives is by getting them from the National Archives. Only then would you be able to find out their ages.
I presume that Robert must have been in jail as he applied for a remission in his sentence. I will see if I can find out more about that.
