Hi,
any help would be greatly appreciated......
In the 1901 UK Census:
I have in my tree some visitors to some relatives of mine:
a Walter Baker born 'about' 1872 at 'Bawtry, Yorkshire', 29 Railway Carriage Examiner Visitor (in LDS it says 'Boarder' on front summary).
and his wife (or other relative??) Emma born 27 born ~ 1874 Doncaster, Yorkshire, England.
I can't find Walter after 1901 (is Walter his first name?).
I am told that 'a 'Walter Baker died Aug 31 1916 in Ottawa ON Canada
(Emma 'could' very well be a first wife but I understand that a Walter was married to a Mary Ann Maloney Sept 5 1910 at Ottawa ON).
Any help would be most appreciative, I would also like to know how Walter's parents were.
(William Baker's parents: John b" ~ 1815 and Harriet b: ~1820 (nee Todman) with children: John, William Elizabeth, Anne, George, Thomas, Henry and Mary...from Tunbridge area of Kent.......William's father's father was John Baker, wife 'Martha' ,with children: Mary, James, Martha, Anne and Esther).
Thanks

Hi
Just to clarify - the female visitor, is Emily (not Emma):
RG13 - Piece 3743 / Folio 27 / Pg9
Visitor: Walter BAKER 29, married, Railway Carriage Examiner, b Bawtry, Yorkshire
Visitor: Emily BAKER 27, married, b Doncaster
In Ancoats, Manchester in the household of William BAKER 44, Railway Engine Driver, b Tunbridge Wells, Kent and his wife Ann E BAKER 34, also from Kent.
Continuing to look - but also have to consider the possibility that the Enumerator got carried away with his/her dittos for the surname, as he wrote BAKER out for the Head (William) and then just dittoed down for the rest of the household...
Cheers

Thanks very much for quick response Ambly!
'Another' possibility is that Walter's second name was 'Walter Frederic'......parents John and Harriet....I have found. That Walter born in Kent.....parents would have been older though.

He was buried in a Catholic Cemetery, and the burial record declared him: husband of Mary Ann MALONEY
