hi , can anybody help me find the burials of my g.grand parents who lived in southport . emma died in 1965 and Frederick 1948 .surname WHITE . thanks
-
hi
if you get in touch with southport crematorium phone number 01704 533443 or e amil them at southport.crematorium@sefton.gov.uk they should be able to tell you but it would help if you know the death reg dist and vol and page numbers oh and date of death .
best of luck

With a name as frequently occurring as White, the crem may need more info other than their names, full names and dates of death are a must and then most probably their last known address.
If Southport crem can help, the GRO reference numbers won't be required as they will mean nothing to them. The ref numbers only mean something to the GRO, they don't even tie up at local reg offices with their records.
However, if the crem can't help then post again with the reference numbers as that will indicate an area for the chatters here who may be able to help.

The red writing was me trying posting the same info
1948 is too early for the crematorium, 1965 is ok.
unless it was a church burial (very unlikely as they were all full by then)
the possibilities are Portland st. cemetery or Birkdale cemetery although I think there was also a roman catholic one as well.
I would start by ringing the crematorium they at least should be able to point you in the right direction as to where the records are held

Try this forum www.nmfhssouthport.myfreeforum.org/
Someone may be able to help.

Thanks for all your advice ,I have rang duke st and they also checked l`pool rd cemeteries and they were not there , they were not catholic so I will try the other 2 and the crem , thanks again.

Although the crematorium may have opened after Frederick's death, the crematorium maintains all the burial & cremation records for Sefton Council. There are 4 cemeteries here

Trevor posted a contact email address in his earlier post but there's more information here

I think Portland st and Birkdale are local names for the two you have tried, duke st and Liverpool rd

that's why I can`t find them ( Portland st ) thanks

As it seems difficult to find burial records any ideas about finding an obituary which should give burial details , possibly southport visiter , but they don`t seem to have old records online ?

No records at s/port crem can only be a church burial , but which church?!! trying to find any death or obituary notices but don`t seem to be online .

Hi
The likelist church burial would be St Cuthbert, Churchtown or perhaps one in Ainsdale or Formby the other Southport Churches didn't have graveyards open still in the 1960's. As for an obituary these would be in the Southport Visitor or Guardian which are at Crosby library in the local history section or there are copies at Southport Library. These newspapers haven't been put online!
-
hi thanks for your interest ,I am trying to find out info on st.cuthberts and hope to get to Crosby asap .thanks again
