I know from the census that George Sutcliffe was employed as a signalman at Starbeck Parkrow, Bilton cum Harrogate in1881, and as stationmaster at North Grimston on the Malton Driffield Line in1891 and 1901.
I would like to know where railway employment records for these stations and other connected railway archives are kept. I've already asked about North Grimston at the Railway Museum in York without success, and have the excellent book about the 'Malton Dodger', but the author of this book doesn't include George in his list of Stationmasters, nor does his book have a bibliography so that I can pursue further the interesting details he gives about the station and its day to day running.
Any info about relevant station life in these places at this time gratefully received.

Maybe ask these people?

They have a forum, so it would be well worth asking the question of them. ;D
Lots of pictures, too!

These are former North Eastern Railway depots as you are well aware. When the NER was merged with the GNR and others in 1923 all staff became eligible to join the GNR Friendly Society which provided sick pay amongst other benefits. As there was no company sick pay almost all staff joined. The records are at the Doncaster Archives, King Edward Road Balby Doncaster.
