I'm asking on behalf of my Mother in Law for any info anyone can supply on the following people:-
James (aged 30) and Ann (aged 25) Kemp on the 1841 possibly with a son, James. James and Ann were married on 13.02.1835 at St John the Baptist Church Lewes and James occupation is listed as a Whitesmith.
Not sure if there is any more to be added to that, but anything would be of interest.
Many thanks
Claire

From my mother in law Sue
"Wow!! So many Kemps and Actons!! Don't know where to start. I'll have another look later when I've properly woken up to see if I can make any sense of it.
What a gem Mr. 1066 is....comes to the rescue every time doesn't he? Please could you make sure to leave him a message thanking him from me. "

Claire
Say 'thank you' to Sue your Mother in law for her kind words.
I enjoy what I do helping others, it is never a chore to me to help further other peoples research.
And when all is said and done, I have spent the last 7 years working in the churchyards of Lewes transcribing and photographing the stones.

I have been doing the Kemp family tree back from the present and have got back to James Kemp married to Ann Acton.
Their children were
Ann b1837
Lydia b1848
Jane R b1843
Albert b1845 -the line I have come down
Thomas A b1844
Sarah b1852
Between 1858 and 1861 the whole family + dau ann's husband Alfred Alderton and their dau Ann moved to Farringdon in London.
-
In 1841 census the Kemp Family shown as KIMP but corrected on Ancestry.com are shown as living in Brighton
-
As the Kemps lived in Trafalgar Place very close to the site of the then new Brighton Railway Station I would assume he was working on same, Especially as he was a whitesmith -- a fettler of non ferrous castings-- and this was the reason the Kemps lived in Brighton at this period
-
these children all baptised st john the baptist lewes sussex to james kemp and ann -
ann bapt 19th feb 1837
james bapt 12th april 1840
jane ridley bapt 25th dec 1841
harry tuppen bapt 4th oct 1846
regards
