Looking for the Death of Isabella Murphy, born Isabella McPhail  c.1856 in Glasgow, Mothers Maiden name mcFarlane.  Last know address 1911 Census living at 16 College St. Eastwood, Pollockshaws age 55 with Husband Joseph 44, Daughter Christina 16 and Sons Joseph 15 and Robert 13.  Any assistance appreciated.  Thank you.

Thanks for your reply.  I have found a couple on Scotlands People, but they just did not seem right, so thought I would see if the name rang a bell with anyone on RootsChat.  Will leave the message up for a few days and if nothing turns up will have to spend some credits and take a chance.  Appreciate your time and effort.

Have you already ruled out the 1932 death in Lanarkshire for Isabella Murphy other surname McPhail

Thank you.  I did not rule it out because I missed it.  Can't tell you how many times I have fallen into that trap of not looking at Glasgow under Glasgow and under Lanarkshire. Now you can understand why I rely on this site so much.  For some strange reason when I looked under Lanark and included her Mothers Maiden name it did not work. When I did not include that name it came up.  I will not even try to understand that.  Now I have the correct Certificate I can close this, thanks to you.

The death index rarely contains the mother's maiden name before 1974.
