Title: Eliza RUSSELL, arrived Brisbane 6 April 1888

Eliza RUSSELL, husband William Thomas, son John and daughter Edith Emily emigrated from Oxfordshire in England and arrived in Brisbane on the ship Merkara 6 April 1888.
Where do I go from here?  Are there any online sources where I can try to find out what happened to them?
Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks Merlin. 
I've tried Queensland BMD indexes since reading your reply, no success there.  You suggested the Rootschat forum, have I not posted this in the right forum?
I've also tried Ancestry worldwide and Queensland State Archives online.  Any suggestions as to where I try to find the family if they didn't stay in Queensland?

Did you open the links I posted in reply #2 it has all the state headings when you click on them to open it has 100's of links inside. Which is different to this the main Australian forum thread where you have posted your request.

Do you have Eliza's maiden name the parents for both of them?

If you give as many details as possible it helps us to find them for you  :)

Eliza's maiden name was Coggins.  Her father was William Green and her mother was Goodworth Coggins.  She was born in 1861.
William Thomas was the illegitimate son of Eliza Russell.  He was born in 1860.
And yes, I've scrolled down the list!  As I don't know which state the family lived in, I guess I should re-post this in the Australia forum.

I think you meant her maiden name would be GREEN?
COGGINS was her mother's maiden name from what you have given above  :-\

Well, Edith Emily married in QLD it's on the link I gave you in reply #1

Edith Emily RUSSELL m. Francis Esau HOWARD 26/02/1902 #C1576

So are both the deaths for Edith & Francis & their children's births if you search:
