Post by: Fern68 on Thursday 12 September 13 04:54 BST (UK)
I am looking for any military info. on my step, x2 g/grandfather Isaac Taylor born 1813 in Limerick Ireland.
He served 17 years in the British Army, in the 12th Regiment of Foot as Private, serving 9 years 11 months in Mauritius. His last day of duty in the 12th was 11 September 1849. He was awarded a medal for good behaviour.
He married Ann Timmins, nee Mullaly in 1848 in Portsea, Plymouth, Co. Hampshire,England. Isaac later became part of the Fencibles and sailed on the ship "Inchinnan" for New Zealand in 1852.

Hi, thanks for that, I have exhausted all the info that I can find on the web and was hoping that I might find some personal info, such as character, (although Isaac was awarded a good behaviour medal,so that speaks volumes,)  looks etc. I'm not in Auckland so can't visit the Howick historical village, but it looks very interesting.
I'm also looking for info on my g/g/grandfather Patrick Timmins who also served in Mauritius, but so far nothing.
