Title: Completed - Free DNA tests at Dublin conference (Oct 2013)
Post by: mjg162 on Wednesday 11 September 13 16:29 BST (UK)
There are some limited free DNA tests available for people with specific surnames at the upcoming Back to Our Past exhibition in Dublin, which runs at the RDS from 18-20 October (only 10 euro to get in, 5 in advance). There is also a whole series of DNA lectures - further details are on the GGI2013 website at http://ggi2013.blogspot.co.uk/p/sponsored-dna-tests.html (http://ggi2013.blogspot.co.uk/p/sponsored-dna-tests.html)

There is also a poll that asks how many Irish people would be interested in doing a DNA test to help trace their ancestry? (at the end of the column on the right) at http://ggi2013.blogspot.co.uk/p/overview.html (http://ggi2013.blogspot.co.uk/p/overview.html). If you're Irish, please complete this poll so that we can have an idea of how popular DNA testing is among Irish people.

Will there be similar events and free tests in England & Wales?  :)

Yes, there will be a series of DNA lectures at Who Do You Think You Are in London at the Olympia in Feb 2014. There will also be sponsored DNA tests available so be sure to keep an eye out.
