Title: thomas prosser griffiths 1843-4 gladestry
Post by: shevvy on Sunday 08 September 13 08:42 BST (UK)
I am trying to find ggpAs birth cert in radnorshire and would really appreciate any help.    He married Gwenny Meredith in Bedwellty in 1866.  I think he was in the workhouse on the 1851 census.  Would be happy to provide any more info if reqd.  thanks in advance.

Perhaps you can tell us where you have found him in any Census? He doesn't show up too readily on any as you describe him!

I have found them in 1871 now, listed as Prosser and Gwenllian Griffiths.RG10/5387/93/46.From looking at the entry, there appears to be doubt i think as to whether his birthplace is Glasbury or Gladestry?

Supposing it is Gladestry,or its Welsh name Llanfair Llyfynwg,it is not very helpful on this occasion using Genuki to find out in which Registration District it is?

Gladestry was in Presteigne registration district until 1870.

Gladestry was in the Kington Poor Law Union, so maybe the 1851 birthplace should read Kington?
Kington Poor Law Union covered parishes in Herefordshire and Radnorshire.

Hope I am not doubling up here but you are going great guns!  thanks so much does this mean I have to do a kington search for his birth cert and if so how would I go about that please?
Could it be vol 26  229 1842  july to sept knighton?   Have just found it if that is the one!
Cheers and thanks again

the only thing with possibly having found something is that I notice that there was prosser age 10 in the census and also thomas aged 10 same poorhouse.  cheers
