Title: Letitia and Mary McDonnell Ballinasloe
Post by: krus on Sunday 01 September 13 22:51 BST (UK)
I am looking for information on two relatives Letitia McDonnell born 1885 in Parkmore, Creagh Ballinasloe Ireland.
Her sister Mary McDonnell was born 1884.  They went to (possibly) New York or New Jersey, in the early 1900's and we have no information on what happened to them after that. Their sister Catherine and brothers Michael and Jim stayed in Ireland.
I would be grateful for any information.

Hi Krus,

Do you have them on the 1901 or 1911 Census Ireland?

Cheers

If you have exact dates of birth for them or can get them, that might be helpful.

I found both sisters on the 1901 Irish census but they went to America by 1911.
Mary (Mollies) DOB is 8th Sept 1884. Letitias is 1 Dec 1885.  The family think they went to New York and that very little was heard from them after that. Speculation that they might have died early.

Could either sister have married before leaving Ireland. ?

Have you had a look through the Ellis Island Site to see if you can see either sister- its free once registered ?

Looking yesterday I did find a Mary A McDonnell but born 1887 (a few years later) specifically from Ballinaroe. Travelling 27 September 1905 on the Caronia.  Going to an Uncle J J White in  391 Grand Street Jersey City Hudson.  ???

Couldn't see any Letitia/Lottie McDonnell - could she have had another name
