Title: Missing 1911
Post by: wheeldon on Sunday 01 September 13 15:18 BST (UK)
I've tried everything but it seems that I have two missing children on the 1911 census, I know they were alive then.  Any ideas as to why two toddlers would be missing?  If they were staying with relatives, would they not be included in their household census return?

Any ideas, thoughts would be gratefully received.

If they were staying with relatives it is possible that they were mistakenly enumerated under the relatives' surname  :-\

Yes they could be, they could also be miss transcribed originally in another household and given the head of the houses surname instead ( which I have with one of my visiting ancestors) :o or of course mis-transcribed so you need to look at the image to make sure, check the obvious, such as grand parents, aunts and uncles

If they were in hospital, they might have been enumerated just by their initials( same goes for the workhouse sometimes too).

Jane Stewart married George Willshaw Dec 1907  Chorlton. In the 1901 census Jane Stewart is with her parents Robert Stewart and Mary Jane Stewart, both born in Ireland. I wonder if the children were in Ireland with their grandparents as I can't see them in 1911.
